			  Six Million Ways to Lose your Privacy, Choose One.  Today's choice is RFID technology.  Small chips the size of a grain of sand that transmit a unique ID via radio frequency.  They don't even require batteries as the initial radio signal looking for the chip provides enough energy for a response.  They are already developed and the price point is pretty low, below 3 cents in the foreseeable future.
